I Am Real … Because We’re Eating Plastic and Calling It Wellness
Share
Let’s stop pretending this is fine.
I created I Am Real Honey and I Am Hot Honey because I got tired of watching “clean food” show up in dirty packaging. Organic ingredients. Medicinal honey. Superfoods. All sealed up in plastic—the same stuff leaching toxins into our bodies and choking our oceans.
How is that still okay?
I didn’t launch another honey brand. I launched a challenge. To the food industry. To the wellness world. To anyone still pretending you can package purity in poison and call it good.
🔬 Here’s the Science They’re Not Printing on the Label
-
Microplastics are in 100% of tested human placentas. They’ve also been found in breast milk, lungs, and even brains. These aren’t natural. These are petrochemical shards, small enough to cross the blood-brain barrier.

Phthalates (plastic softeners) and BPA (used in lids and linings) are endocrine disruptors. They mess with hormones, fertility, and child development. The World Health Organization calls them a global threat to human health.

Most “recyclable” packaging isn’t recycled.
Soft plastics? Almost all go to landfill or end up as microplastics in water systems.
Only 9% of global plastic has ever been recycled.
(Source: OECD Global Plastics Outlook, 2022) - Honey itself absorbs what it touches. It’s hygroscopic. It draws in moisture—and with it, the chemical residues of what it’s stored in. That includes plasticizers and toxins from low-grade packaging.
🐝 My Jar? It’s From the Hive.
I’m not using buzzwords… I’m using waste beeswax and tree resin to create packaging that can break down in the garden, not the gut.
- Our BEEd jar is compostable, non-toxic, and plant-derived
- The lid grows wildflowers when planted
- The material is so safe, you could melt it into a candle, not a landfill leachate
Plastic? Doesn’t belong anywhere near real food. Not now. Not ever.
💥 Why I Had to Start
I Am …
Because nobody else was doing it.
The big brands? Still spinning green lies around petroleum jars.
The wellness space? Obsessed with ingredients, silent on packaging.
Even the sustainable crowd? Slapping “eco” on packaging that ends up in marine stomachs.
I couldn’t watch it anymore. So I built something real.
If you’re holding a jar of I Am, here’s what you’re really holding:
- A protest against packaging pollution
- A solution born from nature, not industry
- A product that doesn’t just feed your body, but protects the ecosystems that feed us all.
No toxins. No petrochemicals. No compromises.
Because when it comes to food, what you hold it in matters just as much as what’s inside.
Let’s clean this up properly. One jar at a time.
Repeat after me - I AM REAL HONEY!
