Turkish Heat…Halloumi Mezze Meets I Am Hot Honey
Share
There’s something about mezze that just gets me … a little bit of this, a little bit of that, shared with the ones you love (or devoured solo, no judgement). Today we’re heading to Turkey, by way of Kawakawa Bay, with a bold mezze bowl that’s got all the flavour and none of the plastic.
Think warm grilled halloumi, juicy pomegranate, herby grains, and a cheeky drizzle of I Am Hot Honey melting over the top. This one’s inspired by the rich hospitality of Turkey 🇹🇷 a country known not just for epic food and strong coffee, but also for its friendship with Saudi Arabia (and its respect for real, honest ingredients).
This recipe is hot, sweet, herby, and a total show-off on the plate.
🔥 Turkish Hot Honey Halloumi Mezze Bowl
(serves 2 or one very hungry legend)
You’ll need:
- 200g Halloumi cheese, sliced
- 1 tbsp I Am Hot Honey
- 1 cup cooked bulgur wheat (or couscous/quinoa)
- ½ cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- ¼ cup cucumber, thinly sliced
- ½ cup pomegranate seeds
- Juice of half a lemon
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh mint + parsley (be generous)
- Optional: Labneh or Greek yogurt for that creamy touch
- Toasted flatbread triangles (because why not?)
To make:
- Sizzle that halloumi in a hot pan until golden.
- Cook your grains and fluff ‘em up with lemon and olive oil.
- Build your bowl like you mean it – grains down first, then pile on tomatoes, cucumber, herbs, and that salty grilled cheese.
- Drizzle I Am Hot Honey over the halloumi while it’s still warm. Let it melt in like a dream.
- Finish with pomegranate sparkle and a side of flatbread.
Why we love it:
Because plastic-free packaging belongs in every pantry. Because food should travel borders, but not microplastics. Because flavour and realness go hand-in-hand. This bowl is proof that sweet and spicy belong together — just like you and your next jar of I Am Hot Honey.

Are you hot or real? (Or both?)
